Today my gratitude is on the greatest compliment I have received and can receive. My husband claims it is one of the reasons why he fell in love with me and it is my authenticity and being genuine.

Being told I am genuine or authentic means the world to me as I want to be real. I know I haven’t always been this way and especially in my early 20s I had an idea of a certain false way I wanted others to perceive me, which is far from who I am now.

It still bothers me when someone doesn’t like me because I am who I am, but I have learnt the larger issue is more a reflection of who they are and what they value. There are people whom I do not enjoy nor like so it is unreasonable of me to expect everyone should like me. It still bothers me though, as I do try to treat everyone with kindness and respect.

I truly detest pretentiousness and ingenuity or a better way to put it being “fake”. I have no time for airs or anyone who may think they are or anyone for that matter is better than another person or group of people because of economic status, education, popularity, race or what not. We are all children of God and we are all brothers and sisters, and no one’s life is of more value over another life. God sees us as equals so why is it so hard for us to see each other as equals?

Being told I am authentic or genuine is the greatest compliment I have received and I so grateful for anyone who has paid me such kind words, as it is an attribute I aspire to live and be.

Beauty fades as we age, wealth can be taken away in a moment, jobs and positions can be lost, but the one thing which cannot be taken away is who you genuinely are and for me I want people to remember me as being kind, honest, thoughtful and sometimes hysterically funny.

Be a square peg in a round hole; be real, be uniquely you

What is a compliment you have received which means a lot to you?
