No, I am not about to give you some smoothie recipe which helps your bowel movements. I am here to tell you about something I didn’t realize I could do until I tried it. If you are into drinking smoothies for breakfast or whenever, and you are adding the juicing greens to your smoothie, you may find that often you have leftover greens which if you don’t use immediately are about to become quite funky in a bad way. Juicing greens are not inexpensive; they include baby spinach, baby kale, arugula and et cetera. You are looking at spending $5 for a container of them and they start to turn almost instantly once you open the package. Well, guess what you can do before your greens start getting down and funky, you can FREEZE them. Say what?! Yes, you can freeze your greens and put them in your smoothie frozen.
I never thought of freezing my greens before because well, lettuce is a fragile vegetable and you could never make a salad after freezing your lettuce or greens, but folks, we are not making salads here, we are making smoothies! I tried it on a whim, and it worked like a charm. I put the portion of greens in little baggies and throw them in the freezer, or if you want to be more “green”, put them in a container and you can scoop them out with a spoon or whatever, they will crumble easily, but who cares, it is going into your blender to be pulverized!
You can do the same for any fruit or veggie which may be turning before you can consume it, and just chuck it in the freezer and put it in your smoothie. Smooth move indeed! Enjoy!
