In the bleak mid winter, February, although brief can be hard on the head. Canadians such as myself can expect copious amounts of snow, freezing temperatures and some days you don’t see the sun.
In trying to make 2017 the year of mindfulness, thus far has been challenging. So, it is time to hit the reset button.
Life is going to throw curve balls at you no matter what & I would love to say something awe inspiring and quotable, but the truth is life doesn’t care what happens to you or around you, it just keeps on keeping on. Ready or not life goes on & you can either complain about it, resist it or join it.
One thing I was planning to do was a shopping ban, but I realized something recently I don’t shop anymore! I am a reformed Shopaholic; the only stuff I have bought recently are groceries. However, my one vice is eating out and not brown bagging when I should.
I also buy take out coffee every day, sometimes more than once a day.
I did read through Cait Flanders (aka Blonde on a Budget) shopping ban guide, and I didn’t take inventory of what I have, but I can tell you I have enough body washes & moisturizers to last me beyond the end of this calendar year.
Basically, the only stuff I need to buy are groceries. Yes, as of present I am that well stocked in everything else.
I will come up with a ban list to be implemented for March, to attempt some money saving tactics.
One thing I have been doing since the beginning of February is the Minimalism Challenge #minsgame as I try to reduce clutter from my life and free up space. You can follow me on Instagram at youknowjacques. It feels so good to be getting rid of stuff, however it never seems to end.
I have been working out at least three times a week, but last week had some unexpected twists with meetings & training which derailed me a bit. Plus, I have been stress eating. So, mindful living needs to be worked on.
Happy Valentine’s Day too!
Peace & love – Rachel
