In 2015 I tried the 30 Day Minimalism Challenge.  I only made it to day 26; so close!  Despite not completing the challenge I still was able to decrease more than four garbage bags full of stuff. The clutter was not only affecting my space yet impacting my mental state.  Clutter is chaos and it is difficult to feel zen like when you are surrounded by stuff you don’t use nor even really like.

When I bailed on completing the challenge I had just moved into a new apartment, which also happens to be a smaller space.  Since then I have met someone who is a neat freak and this is no exageration; this guy vacuums immediately after I consume a crumbly flakey croissant.  Originally, I thought his place lacked character and I would still like to add some colour splashes throughout, but it is actually really nice. It is quite lovely being in a space which isn’t sprinkled with knick knacks, candles and whatnot. It is peaceful.

Of course when he saw my place for the first time his first comment was about how much stuff I have.  It is true! I have a ton of stuff and I don’t even love it all; especially when I am tripping over it. Throw a broken foot into the mix and crutches and having any extra clutter is not only unattractive, but also a safety hazard.

My new left foot; it has caused me so much grief I may as well share it with the world!

2016 is the year for me to trim down not only my waistline, but my living space.  Everything should have a place and a purpose.  This is a go big or go home project.

Day 1 is a pair of flannel pajamas!

I have a collection of pjs and I don’t need ten sets, and flannel makes me hot paired with a down filled duvet.  There is no need!

This is the beginning of a great give away and trim down of stuff! Stay tuned.
